I'm about an hour and half from turning 27 (my shining achievement in life is that Taylor Swift and I share the same sign 💅🏽✨), and I thought it would be the perfect time to reflect on this past year. If you've read the last three posts (🤡) I wrote, 27 was quite honestly one of the most challenging years of my life. While I'm tempted to say this year felt slow and incomplete, when I zoom out a little farther, I realize that there was (is) something more significant in the works. Sure, in some ways, I would not necessarily include 27 in my personal highlight reel, but in many ways, it felt meditative, observant, and contemplative. Words that I aspire to but often do not value enough to set aside time for in my day-to-day.

27 felt like growing pains. Even though I felt lost as f***, I'm now realizing that feeling lost comes from a place of action. Because I'm going somewhere. And will continue to go somewhere the rest of my life. I'm just learning to enjoy the ride 🤠

Anyhoo, I wanted to compile a very random list of reflections from my 27th year of life. This will most definitely be eclectic, but I hope I can look back on this with gratitude (and, God willing, a lot of humor). So, please excuse my self-coaching moment as I write myself a few notes to be even more true to myself as I enter 28.

1. Brené Brown says you should complete that stress cycle. Just cry.

2. I didn't realize how much you would be obsessed with cute animal videos.

3. Adjustment takes longer than you think. Be kind to yourself.

4. Films are a form of contemplation for you.

5. Take deep breaths more...especially when you're about to retort back to your partner (I love you, M).

6. When you're wearing that perfect fit that makes you feel gorgeous, you can do anything (you also really love layering your clothes)

7. Please journal more...I'm starting to realize it helps your mental health.

8. You really do love Taylor Swift....the Eras Tour movie almost made you cry lol.

9. Try new activities, especially with M! It builds your confidence and trust.

10. Stay curious when you receive feedback. And, keep in mind the intention of the person you are tempted to tune out (or fight lol).

11. Take more time in nature. It's healing for you.

12. You like to spend more time at home than you thought you did.

13. On that note, challenge yourself once in a while and do social activities you want to say no to.

14. It's okay to take a break from something.

15. There are parts of yourself that you may not like that make you feel whole. Just accept it.

16. Your spirituality is your choice.

17. Trust your gut.

18. You love pine trees and will most likely need to be around them more.

19. Your fashion inspiration is a good indicator of your mental health lol.

20. You really love mentoring people and bringing out the best in them .

21. You are creative...you're just figuring out what that means exactly.

22. You started a freaking podcast!!! (and you love mixing and editing the recordings).

23. You like getting in the weeds...aka you're detail-oriented

24. You successfully cooked your first (and may I say delicious) turkey this year (to the point that it didn't taste like turkey!

25. You still feel like a 12 year old around your mom (we love re-traumatizing ourselves💀)...but be patient as you learn to build boundaries...and take it slower than you think you need to.

26. You actually like lifting....you're a strong girl miss ma'am 😤

27. Remember to take time to affirm and speak gratitude to the people you love, seeing them glow is so worth it
